On 18th of May at 18:30 will be the inaguration of the exposition, untill 27th of August.
Mountain hikking in the Basque Country has been a social phenomenon - and still is - that can not be denied. In Vitoria-Gasteiz and Iruña (Pamplona), at the beginning of the twentieth century, clubs were created and what about Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa? In Gipuzkoa, almost every town created a mountain group and in some cases, up to two clubs. Bergara also participated in this movement, 75 years ago, "Pol-Pol Mendizale Taldea" was founded.
The City of Bergara through the Laboratorium Museum, wants to revive that fact with an exhibition. The name of the exhibition is "MOUNTAIN HIKKING AND SOCIETY", in which, you will be able to know the most important steps of the history of Pol-Pol and the different aspects of mountain hikking. For example: "Mountain hikking and Sport", "Mountain hikking and socialization of the person", "A member in Pol-Pol: Loli Larrañaga", "Mountain hikking and economy" and "Mountain hikking situation today".
In the exhibition, you will be able to find testimonies of people with big relations with the mountain hikking. In addition, you will be able to see pieces ceded by the EMMOA (Basque Mountain Hikking Museum, in its acronym in Basque language). The Pol-Pol club also participates in the organization of this exhibition. The exhibition will be from May 18 to August 27 at the Laboratorium Museum in Bergara.
